We have created this 6-day wine and food tour itinerary in Georgia with love and care. You will love the great combination of delicious food, great vines, stunning mountain scenarios, the hospitality of the Kakheti region, and the urban vibes of the capital city Tbilisi.

Day 1

Arrival to Tbilisi. Facultative transfer to the hotel: You will be greeted upon arrival at Tbilisi airport by local assistant who will provide individual or private transfer to the hotel.

Day 2

WINE MAKING REGION OF GEORGIA, KAKHETI & COOKING MASTERCLASS AT THE FAMILY WINERY

Tour to the wine making region of Georgia, Kakheti. The most important micro zone for winemaking in Georgia is Alazani Valley. Alazzani Valley is the birthplace of famous red dry Saperavi and Mukuzani wines, red semi dry Kindzmarauli and white wines Rkatsiteli, Tsinandali, Mtsvane and many more.
During the trip you will visit following destinations:
TOWN OF LOVE AND WINE - SIGNAGHI. Signaghi is a picturesque town with the environment of XIX century, surrounded with 4 km city wall.
BODBE NUNNERY is surrounded with beautiful nature, beautiful landscapes and lovely yard. Nunnery is known from the IV cc.
The GURJAANI KVELATSMINDA. Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God is a Georgian Orthodox church constructed in the 8th or 9th century, during the "transitional period" in the medieval Georgian architecture.
LOCAL FAMILY WINERY in Kindzmarauli microzine. Family wineries are called Marani in Georgian language, here wine is made by an old Georgian winemaking tradition in clay vessels Qvevri. Georgia winemaking tradition counts 8000 year history and represents unique way that can be found only in Georgia. Wine tour and wine degustation in “Marani”. You will taste home made wines in Marani. You will be able to see the influence of Qvevry on wine. You will taste red dry, red semy sweet, white dry and amber or Orange wines, As well as Georgian Traditional strong spirit Chacha.
KAKHETIAN CUISINE: One of the main prides in Kakhetian cuisine is pork and beef or veal barbeque, quite easy to prepare it if you know the secret behind it! COOKING MASTER CLASS: Barbeque making masterclass, backing traditional brad “dedas’ pouri” in a clay oven and making Georgian sweet “Churchkhela”. It is a string of walnut halves that have been dipped in grape juice thickened with flour and dried in the sun.

Day 3

TELAVI BAZAR AND ALAZANI VALLEY & TOUR TO QVEVRI MUSEUM

Visit of NEKRISI FORT. Nekrisi is a medieval age fortification standing above Alazani Valley with old churches and winery.
VISIT OF ALAVERDI CATHEDRAL. Alaverdi Cathedral rises above the vast Alazani Valley and represents one of the best architectural masterpieces of the golden age of Georgia. The Alaverdi Cathedral was one of the powerful cultural and educational centers with a large Library.
VISIT OF TELAVI BAZAR – small bazaar in the center of Telavi offers wide choice of spices, herbs, sweets, cheese and fruit.
TOUR TO QVEVRI MUSEUM – It is time to see how Qvevri, huge clay vessels for aging wine is made and how wine is fermented in it. Wine tasting in wine cellar.

Day 4

KHINKALI & CHACHA in KAZBEGI

TBILISI – STEPANTSMINDA (KAZBEGI) – ANANURI FORT – HIKING TO GERGETI TRINITY CHURCH
Khinkali, which is a Georgian type of Dumplings, originated in mountainous regions of Georgia. We are heading to the Caucasus mountains, region Mtiuleti to find out how to make Khinkali and how to eat it! Local cook will share the recipe of making Khinkali with you.
Tour to Stepantsminda. The village Stepantsminda is located in the heart of Great Caucasus range, at the foot of Kazbegi peak. You will drive the legendary Georgian Military Highway, one of the world’s most beautiful roads, that winds its way up to the village, through steep wooded valleys, ravines and finally over the 2300 meter Cross Pass and down again to the village. After reaching village Stepantsminda you will see a beautiful view of Gergeti Trinity Church and Kazbegi peak. From Stepantsminda you can go hiking to Gergeti Trinity Church, rent off-road jeep tour from Stepantsminda to Gergeti Trinity Church.

Day 5

TOUR TO OLD CAPITAL MTSKHETA, TOWN GORI AND CAVE TOWN UPLISTSIKHE

MTSKHETA: Mtskheta was an old capital of the country. Town Mtskheta and architectural monuments are part of the UNESCO world heritage sites. Visit of the Svetitskhoveli cathedral and Jvari monastery. UPLISTSIKHE CAVE TOWN: This antic town dates back to the end of II millennium BC and was hewn out of the sandstone rocks. Archaeological excavations have revealed extraordinary artifacts of different epochs: beautiful golden, silver and bronze jewelry, magnificent samples of ceramics and sculptures.TOWN GORI AND STALINS’ HOUSE MUSEUM: On the way back, you will pass through town Gori, This town is famous as the birthplace of soviet leader Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili, or as he was known worldwide - Stalin. It is possible to visit Stalin’s house museum. Museum consists of the small house where Stalin was born, the museum itself and Stalin’s private armored coach.
CHATEAU MUKHRANI WINERY: Visit of the duke Ivane’s castle in the village Mukhrani. The castle had been renovated lately and belongs to the wine company Mukhrani. The visit includes: Touring around the castle of Ivane Mukhran-Batoni and subterranean wine cellars; Touring through wine-making processes in modern Chateau Mukhrani winery; Wine testing at the degustation hall
Facultative Offer: Dinner in the restaurant “Samepo Marani 1878” (Royal Cellar 1878) in Chateau Mukhrani. The old brick-built cellar is a historic monument. Traditions, reflecting that era, have been preserved in the restaurant interior. The date “1878” refers to the filling of the first bottled Mukhrani wine by Ivane Mukhranbatoni.

Day 6

FACULTATIVE OLD TBILISI WALKING TOUR & FACULTATIVE VISIT TO THE MUSEUMS / Transfer to the airport
